Description
Everyone knows that Japan is not all about ancient temples, quiet gardens or shinto torii. There is a lot contemporary architecture and modern technology as well. On my way to Odaiba I stopped shortly in Shiodome to take a picture of the Dentsu Building - a really great sight. Don't miss the right angle, though.
It was built over the site of Tokyo's first train station, and sits aside the Hamarikyu Gardens, formerly the site of a Shogun's vacation home. Completed in 2002 it has all technology stuff you can imagine, from rainwater collection on the roof to special ceramic-enhanced windows for management of climate via shading the glass. Common stuff nowadays, but really advanced 14 years ago.
